Wrist Pain Therapy in Wesley Chapel FL
Did you know 43% of Americans suffer from Wrist pain? Wrist pain affects your daily life, including working, household chores, self-care, physical activity like sports, and makes holding day-to-day things difficult. There are different common conditions related to hand pain, and here we want to point out some of the most recurrent ones we help with
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome CTS is a major cause of wrist pain in Wesley Chapel adults.
90% of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) cases are related to neck issues. We often see patients being misdiagnosed with CTS without investigating the nerve roots in the neck, specifically cervical C5, C6, C7, C8/T1 nerves. 10 structures travel through the Carpal Tunnel: 5 tendons of flexor digitorum profundus, 4 tendons of flexor digitorum superficialis muscles, 1 median nerve, and 1 Flexor Pollicis Longus tendon. When there is a CTS, it happens for 2 reasons: collapse of the tunnel or an increase in the size of the content (the 10 structures) going through the tunnel.
Most likely, it happens due to the increase in size of structures going through the tunnel because of overuse, and pregnancy is very common, creating inflammation of any of the structures going through the tunnel.
How do I know if my symptoms are truly related to CTS?
The classic presentation is numbness, tingling, paresthesia, or described as a “Weird sensation” over the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger.
